Bachelor of Science - Middle Grades Education

A bachelor's degree in middle grades education prepares teachers to work with children in grades six through nine with two academic concentrations. Currenlty students may choose to concentrate in 2 of the following three concentrations:  language arts, math and science. The middle grades education coursework provided through SECU Partnership East is offered completely online.  Throughout the program, students are placed in public school classrooms to observe and practice teaching methods learned in the courses.  A full-time internship in a public school is required in the senior year.

SECU Partnership East starts cohorts of middle grades education majors annually. To join SECU Partnership East, students must meet the requirements listed on the general description webpage as well as submit a PE application to a PE Coordinator and a Freshman/Transfer application to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at East Carolina University. Students must have access to the technology required as described in the Technology Requirements.
