Elementary Education
Andy Roos Memorial Scholarship. Available to assist deserving students enrolled full time and majoring in elementary education. Selection based on scholarship with minimum GPA of 3.3 to qualify. Award amount is $1000 ($500 for each of two semesters) and is subject to availability. One $1000 scholarship will be awarded for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Doris N. Burnette Scholarship. Awarded to students accepted for admission or currently enrolled full time in elementary education. Selection based on scholarship and citizenship. Award amount is $3000 ($1500 for each of two semesters) and is subject to availability. Two $3,000 scholarships will be awarded for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Mary Lois Staton Scholarship. Awarded to upper-level undergraduate students enrolled full time and majoring in elementary education. Eligible recipients selected based upon merit, although need may be a secondary consideration. Award amount is $2,000 ($1000 for each of two semesters) and is subject to availability. Two $2,000 scholarships will be awarded for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Clyda Batton Memorial Scholarship. First preference is given to an outstanding graduate of Smithfield-Selma High School enrolled full time in the College of Education and majoring in elementary education. Award amount is $1,000 ($500 for each of two semesters) and is subject to availability. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded for the 2009-2010 academic year.
J. Worth Carter Scholarship. Awarded to a rising junior or senior undergraduate student from eastern North Carolina enrolled full time in either elementary education or middle grades education. First preference is to students from Cumberland County. Selection based on scholarship, need, and citizenship. Award amount is $600 ($300 for each two semesters) and is subject to availability. One $600 scholarship will be awarded for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Kara Lynn Corey Fennell Scholarship. Awarded to a rising junior or senior undergraduate student enrolled full time in elementary education, Award amount is $600 ($300 for each of two semesters) and is subject to availability. One $600 scholarship will be awarded for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Gravely Foundation Scholarships in Elementary Education and Special Education. Awarded to rising junior or senior undergraduate students or graduate students enrolled full time and majoring in elementary education or special education. Selection based on academic excellence, financial need, citizenship, and dedication to the teaching profession. Award amount is $1000 ($500 for each of two semesters) for each of two scholarships per year and is subject to availability. One $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in Elementary Education and one $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in Special Education.
Jean Garris Scholarships in Elementary and Special Education. Awarded to junior or senior undergraduate students enrolled full time and majoring in either elementary education or special education. Award amount is $600 ($300 for each of two semesters) and subject to availability. One $600 scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in Elementary Education and one $600 scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in Special Education for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Helen Massey Harrell Memorial Scholarship. Awarded to an undergraduate student enrolled full time and pursuing a degree in either elementary or middle grades education. Selection based on academic excellence, citizenship, and dedication to the teaching profession. Award amount is $1000 ($500 for each of two semesters) and is subject to availability. One $1000 scholarship will be awarded for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Ellen Boone Staton Memorial Scholarship. Awarded to a rising junior or senior full-time student in the College of Education elementary education program. Selection is based on academic ability (minimum 3.0 GPA), academic major, and financial need. Award amount is $1000 ($500 for each of two semesters) and subject to availability.
Charles and Beth Ward Scholarship in Elementary Education. Awarded to an undergraduate student enrolled full time and majoring in elementary education. Academic standards of eligibility must be met. One $500 award available for 2009-2010 ($250 for each of two semesters).
Middle Grades Education
Faye Marie Creegan Scholarship. Awarded to rising seniors enrolled full time in the College of Education and preparing for certification in the teaching of social studies in the middle or secondary grades. Minimum 3.0 GPA. Award amount is $2,000 ($1,000 for each of two semesters) and is subject to availability. One $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in Middle Grades Education with a concentration in social studies for the 2009-2010 academic year.

History Education

Reading Education
Becky Keith Ledford Memorial Scholarship. Available to a graduate student enrolled full time or part time and majoring in reading education who is qualified to hold a teaching license in reading or equivalent. Selection based on demonstrated ability to teach through teaching or clinical internship experience. Award amount is $1,000 ($500 for each of two semesters) and is subject to availability. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Special Education
Sandra Hopfengardner Warren Scholarship. Awarded to an undergraduate student from Greene County, NC pursuing a degree in special education (who has met testing requirements for Upper Division). Award based on academic ability, academic major and other criteria as determined by the selection committee. Award amount is $1,000 ($500 for each of two semesters) and is subject to availability. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Burney and Judy Warren Scholarship. Awarded to a rising senior undergraduate or graduate student enrolled full time and majoring in special education. Minimum GPA of 3.5 required. Selection based on demonstrated commitment to study of special education and interest in working with learning disabled children. Award is $1,000 ($500 for each of two semesters) and is subject to availability. Three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Benjamin Scott Denton Graduate Fellowship. Awarded to a graduate student accepted for admission and enrolled full time in special education. Minimum GPA of 3.5 required. Selection based on scholarship and commitment to the study of special education. Award amount is $2,000 ($1,000 for each of two semesters) and is subject to availability. Two $2,000 scholarships will be awarded for the 2009-2010 academic year.

Award amount is $1000 ($500 for each of two semesters) and is subject to availability. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded for the 2009-2010 academic year.
Angel Boberg-Webb Scholarship. Awarded to a masters level student with a 2.5 GPA each semester who is a resident of North Carolina and teaching in a North Carolina public school. One $1000 award available for 2009-2010 ($500 for each of two semesters).
Special Education Scholarships Requiring Service Outreach Obligation

ECU Highly Qualified Special Educators (ECU HQ-SPED). Tuition awarded to undergraduates in upper division pursuing a bachelors degree in special education general curriculum, and to alternative licensure students pursuing special education general curriculum initial or add-on licensure. Scholars fulfill a service obligation upon completing coursework, teaching students with documented disabilities for two years for every academic year tuition support is received. Application
ECU Transition to Teaching. The ECU ECU SPED T2T scholarship prepares highly qualified K-12 special educators in adapted or general curriculum who will also be licensed in elementary and reading. Students supported through ECU SPED may receive up to a $5,000 tuition stipend, a personal laptop and webcam for use throughout their program. Scholars fulfill a service obligation whereby they work with students with disabilities for three years in qualified high-need NC schools upon completing licensure requirements. Application
ECU Pathways. Tuition awarded to undergraduates in upper division pursuing a bachelors in special education adapted curriculum, and to alternative licensure students pursuing special education adapted curriculum initial or add-on licensure, and to students pursuing a master's degree in special education, low-incidence disabilities. Upon completion, scholars fulfill a service obligation whereby they work with children with documented disabilities for two years for every academic year tuition support is received. Application
