The goal of each student while at Summer Ventures is to select a research project in their favorite class, write a paper on that research, and give an oral presentation of their research paper on the final day of Summer Ventures. After a couple of weeks most students, with the help of the instructors, narrow down the area of research in which they are most interested. By the end of the third week the students turn in their first, second, and third choices for research topics. The faculty endeavors to give every student their first choice unless the classes are too far out of balance. The research class assignments are posted on Friday afternoon of the third week and on Saturday morning the students go to their assigned research class. During the fourth week the students attend only their research class and spend the week working on their research project and writing their research paper.
