Ms. Jennifer Palumbo is a graduate student in the Special Education, Learning Disabilities program at East Carolina University and is currently a mentor in the STEPP program. She has experienced the college life at ECU as an undergraduate, as well as, a graduate student and has great insights into what it takes to be a successful student. Ms. Palumbo has also experienced working with students with disabilities at all ages and has previously taught students with disabilities at Sam D. Bundy Elementary in Farmville, NC. Her knowledge and understanding of the learning styles and needs of students with learning disabilities allows her to provide assistance to students in the STEPP program. Ms. Palumbo has been with this program since its pilot year, in 2006, and will continue to provide support until she graduates in May 2008. Together with the other Project STEPP mentor, she has helped to develop handbooks for the future mentors and tutors for the Program. Ms. Palumbo is currently working on her master thesis on the topic of Transition to College: Necessary Considerations and Services for Students with Learning Disabilities.
