Welcome to the Project STEPP team and thank you in advance for all the time and effort that you will be putting in to working with the students in this program. You will be an important part of all that we do.

This handbook contains tips, suggestions, responsibilities, policies, and resources that should be helpful as you get started. If at anytime you have questions that can not be answered from the handbook, please feel free to ask anyone in the STEPP office. You will be an integral part of the program, so feel free to offer suggestions and resources to help continue to build this manual.

Sincerely, Project STEPP Staff

Forms

In order to monitor the work and progress of the Project STEPP Program, its mentors, and mentees, the forms listed below should be completed consistently.  These forms should be completed and returned to the Director or Assistant Director in the Project STEPP office.  An explanation of each of the forms included in the handbook is listed below.

Mentor Contact Info:  This is a form that all mentors complete that contains important information such as email address, telephone number, and schedule.  Being aware of this information is important in case someone in the STEPP office should need to contact any of the mentors.

Mentor Time Sheet: This is a form that allows mentors to document the days and times that they have worked.

Mentor Report Log: This is a form that allows mentors to document the days and times that they have worked with their mentee(s).  Each mentor should use this form to keep track of all the mentoring sessions that they have conducted.  Detailed information on the various supports being provided should always be included.

Mentor Checklists/Mentee Checklists: There are checklists which are to be completed throughout the semester.  These checklists will help both you and your mentee(s) complete necessary tasks during the mentoring process.

No Report Slip: This is a form to document when a mentee does not show up for a scheduled mentoring session.  This form must be completed within 48 hours of the missed session.

Mentor Evaluations/Mentee Evaluations: There are evaluations forms which are to be completed at the end of all mentoring sessions, typically at the end of a semester.  There is a form for both the mentor and mentee to complete.  Both forms will be held in confidentiality and will only be viewed by Mrs. Bouck or Dr. Williams.

Mentor Contract: All mentors must sign a mentoring contract at the beginning of each semester.  In order to ensure that mentees receive the best mentoring services, we ask that all mentors read and sign guidelines outlined in the mentoring handbook.
