2013 Cohort Application Review Has Begun
The Project STEPP admissions committee has begun reviewing the complete applications for the 2013 cohort. We are currently still processing many of the applications that have been recently submitted; however, all students who have a complete application on file should receive notification that they are under consideration by the end of May. If you have applied and have not heard from us by then, please contact the Transition Specialist at johnsonem@ecu.edu or 252-737-2275 to check on whether we have received your application.
We anticipate notifying students about whether they have been invited to interview during late May and early June. Most interviews will be scheduled for late May through the end of June. Final admission decisions will not be made until the end of July in order to give the committee ample time to fully consider each applicant. All students should be notified of their final admission decision by mid-August.
Applying for 2014? It's time to start thinking about the SAT/ACT
If you are planning to apply for the 2014 cohort of Project STEPP, you will need to have SAT or ACT scores available by the May 15th Project STEPP application deadline. We will update this page with information about the 2012-2013 testing dates as they approach.
Note: If you plan to take the SAT or ACT with accommodations, we strongly recommend beginning the accommodations request process at least two months before your planned test date (based on the past experiences of students who have applied to the program).

Fall Open House - TBA (November 2012)
ECU's Spring Open House was a great success, and we're already looking forward to the Fall event! The next ECU Open House will be held on a Saturday in November 2012. The specific date and time will be announced later this year. In conjunction with this event, Project STEPP is inviting students, parents, and educators to join us to learn more about our program.
The schedule will be as follows:
- From 9:30 am until 12:30 pm, you can visit the Project STEPP booth at the Student Affairs Fair to pick up informational flyers and chat briefly with a program representative.
- Between 1:00 and 3:00 pm, the Project STEPP office will be open. An in-depth information session and question-and-answer period will be held from 1:30-2:30. Before and after this session, you can tour the Project STEPP office and speak with program staff individually.
Click here to download an informational flyer about our Open House events. If you have questions about our Open House, please contact Project STEPP's Transition Specialist Emily Johnson.
Registration is not required for the Project STEPP events; however, we strongly recommend signing up to attend ECU's campus-wide Open House events on the ECU Admissions Office's Upcoming Events website.
2012 Cohort Finalized
Final admissions decisions were made for the 2012 cohort of Project STEPP in July 2011. All ten of the selected students committed to the program and have been participating in the transition supports since September 2011. The applications on our waiting list and in our pool of late applicants expired on May 1, 2012, and no changes to the 2012 cohort will be possible at this point. Interested students who missed the deadline for 2012 are encouraged to submit an application for the 2013 cohort.
Please see additional information here and contact us with any questions.
