Spend a Day on Campus
You are invited to spend a day on campus with the ECU Teaching Fellows. A day at ECU includes meeting current Fellows, attending class and enjoying a campus eatery. Please contact our office by calling 252-328-4126 to reserve a day.

“At first I didn't really know that much about ECU and their teaching program. Since I live near another campus, and that's where my mom went for teaching, I was leaning towards that campus. I also knew people that went to other colleges and I thought I would like to go there. “ECU won my heart and I am not planning on transferring any time soon. Mrs. Parrish came to Jacksonville to give a presentation of ECU's Teaching Fellows and the more she talked I just knew that I would love it here. I had visited several campuses and was not as impressed by the location of the classrooms in regards to where the dorms were located and the condition of the dorms were not what I had hoped for. I must admit that I had never visited Greenville until the weekend of my orientation, so I was pretty nervous about not having a previous chance to get to know the area. But, after the first day all my worries disappeared, because ECU by far has the prettiest, cleanest and nicest environment. The people were all very welcoming and extremely polite. I couldn't picture myself anywhere else. It just has this feeling of 'home' here. Another bonus is that Greenville is not as far away as I had thought. I also believe that the fact that ECU had a football team was pretty important. The two of them were very accommodating to my parents and me by allowing us to come in on another day. It was clear to me that they cared about the program here at ECU and about their students. ECU as a whole treated me as thought they were fortunate to have me here. Whereas, the other schools I went to made me feel the complete opposite. “I didn't receive Teaching Fellows at first, and I thought that I would a different university, but it didn't have the major I wanted, which was Theatre Education. Also, I loved that ECU was a big college with a small town feel. I realized that my original choice was too small for me and ECU was perfect...and, to top it all off, I found out late last summer that I did receive Teaching Fellows....at ECU!!! I felt like God had just opened all the doors and put me right where I needed to be! And I LOVE it!!!” – Amanda Beecher, Sophomore
”I was accepted to all three of my top choice schools for Teaching Fellows. After visiting each school I decided that ECU’s Teaching Fellows Program, at the time, seemed to exceed the others by far. One thing in particular: the last speech we heard at ECU Teaching Fellows Recruitment Day, given by an ECU-TF alumnus about his “running shoes,” had a lasting impact on me (and my mother who heard it). Also, compared to the others, the faculty and students seemed like they really wanted me to come to ECU and that they cared about each of the applicants equally and individually. Another important “pro” (but not necessarily the deciding factor) for ECU was that it is only 21 miles from home, a good thing since I knew homesickness might be a problem. Luckily, I have yet to regret the decision! “
