TRAVEL
East Carolina University Teaching Fellows have many opportunities to travel both with the state program and the campus program. As a NC Teaching Fellow, you will embark on DISCOVERY after your freshman year. This weeklong bus adventure takes Fellows from all fourteen campuses across the state visiting educational systems, industries, and cultural sites.
During the sophomore year, ECU Teaching Fellows take a one-day trip to a selected historical location in North Carolina. Juniors experience a three to four day trip during the spring semester. The emphasis of this trip is multiculturalism and education.
The summer between the sophomore and junior year, Fellows participate in the Junior Enrichment of their choosing. Available activities range from Turtle Island Preserve, which lasts a week and costs Fellows nothing, to Cambridge, England, which last three weeks at greater expense to the Fellow. Applications are listed on the Internet sometime in November for Fellows to review and to make their choice. Prior to disbursement of funds, four hundred dollars ($400) is taken from the scholarship fund to go towards payment of the Junior Enrichment experience.
