HHP Semester Calendars

Students should use the semester at a glance calendars below to help plan for important academic dates in the semester.  These calendars print out nicely to easily be used as a time management tool.  Also, ECU publishes an academic calendar on the web that students should always reference before/during every semester for the most current/up to date information.  Visit the University Academic Calendar and click on the term you're interested in for these important dates.

Please note that students are ultimately responsible for keeping up with important dates on campus.  Reminders of important dates are often communicated to students through email.  It is VERY important that students read in a timely manner ALL emails that are sent to them by their advisor!

HAVING DIFFICULTY REGISTERING FOR CHEMISTRY COURSES, the Chemistry Department has updated their website to include a page to help guide students through registering for their lectures and labs - which can be a tricky process.  If you are having trouble registering for a chemistry course this should be your first stop for seeking assistance.  Visit http://www.ecu.edu/cs-cas/chem/PreregF2008.cfm.

LAST DAY TO DROP for the spring semester is Thursday, March 1, 2012.  (Please note that your signed form must be turned in to the Registrar's Office by 5PM!)

HOW TO DROP A COURSE:

  • If you decide to drop a course you are struggling in using one of your allotted university drops, you can NOT do it yourself in banner.  FOR ALL ON CAMPUS courses (Cmp=008) you MUST send an email to your advisor including the following info: your name, banner ID, course name + section #.  Your advisor may ask that you come in to see him/her so make sure to respond appropriately to any follow-up given to your request.  FOR ALL ONLINE DISTANCE ED courses (Cmp=650) you MUST send an email to DEdrops@ecu.edu including the following info: your name, banner ID, course name + section #.  ON THE LAST DAY TO DROP, students are encouraged to just stop by the Advising Center to fill out a drop form (should take no longer than 5-10 min) and take the signed white copy to the Registrar's Office in Whichard 105.
    • MAKE SURE you have a drop left to use - you started out with 4!  If you need us to check on this, call the Advising Center at (252) 328-4645.  You must know your banner ID at the time of your call.
    • If you are DROPPING BELOW FULL-TIME you must make sure that you will remain okay with your academic standing/overall GPA goals, financial aid and health insurance coverage.

ADVISING DOCUMENTS:

PROCESS TO FOLLOW IF YOU ARE STRUGGLING TO FIND COURSES:
We realize that courses required by your major may fill quickly during early registration, resulting in your inability to add them.  Individual responsibility will help you to avoid this situation, but we know that sometimes there are extraordinary circumstances beyond your control.  Regardless, there is a process in place that you are expected to follow in order to get help building a full-time schedule towards your major's curriculum.  This is listed below:

  1. Meet with your advisor for guidance on brainstorming alternative courses if you are struggling to do so on your own.
  2. To pay for tuition, register for at least 12 on-campus hours of coursework.  It can be anything!  Continue to check banner self service to see if the courses you need open up.  We realize that you would prefer to have your schedule perfect ASAP but you will need to be patient and continue checking on classes until the Cashier's drop date (see calendar for the semester you are registering for).
  3. After the Cashier's drop date, contact the professor via email of the course you wish to add requesting special permission to be added.  It is CRUCIAL that you follow college etiquette for composing a professional email because if you don't it is likely the professor will ignore your email.  See here for a rubric on how to correctly compose your special add email.
  4. Still having trouble registering for major courses?  Contact the chair of your major's department:
    • Dept of KINE = Dr. Stacey Altman
    • Dept of HLTH = Dr. Tim Kelley
    • Dept of RCLS = Dr. Deb Jordan

*** PLEASE NOTE that if you are having difficulty registering for courses in other departments you should contact them for assistance with registration.
