Physical Activity for Weight Management (does not meet FC Requirement)
This class is intended for students, staff and faculty that want to make a change in body composition and get fit and physically active. Participants should have a desire to learn how to lose body fat and either maintain or increase muscle mass. To accomplish these goals the course requires participants to exercise. Participants will learn how much exercise to strive for and what kinds of food they should eat to be healthy. Body fat will be estimated from skinfold measures. Dietary logs will be kept and analyzed for nutritional content. The number of steps taken each day will be tabulated and exercise logs maintained throughout the course. Participants should leave the class having made behavioral changes. An atmosphere of respect, support and friendliness is promoted by the instructor. No prior physical activity experience is required.
