Physical Education Pedagogy (MS and MAEd) represents a performance-based program of study that integrates both theory and practical application of pedagogy in a variety of learning contexts including, but not limited to, action research and practicum-based opportunities within public schools settings. Core program elements focus on enhancement of the craft of teaching via self-analysis, reflective teaching, curriculum development, research, and the development of supervisory skills. Thesis and non-thesis options are available in the MS degree. In conjunction with the Department of Exercise and Sport Science, the East Carolina University College of Education offers an MAEd Degree with an emphasis in Physical Education K-12. The MAEd Program meets all North Carolina State Department of Public Instruction requirements for teacher salary advancement incentives, and prepares licensed teachers for National Board Certification in Physical Education.
