The purpose of this program is to provide competencies and knowledge for students to develop and conduct health and fitness programs in commercial, corporate, public agency settings, and private settings such as personal training and athletic performance. Guidelines for the National Association for Sport and Physical Education and the American College of Sports Medicine, who set criteria for programs in these areas, have been employed in designing this program.
Health Fitness alumni currently work in the following businesses:
GlaxoSmithKline - corporate fitness
ESPN - corporate fitness/education
Saddlebrook Resort - athletic performance
SAS Institute - corporate fitness/personal training
YMCA's - wellness/fitness/children's programs
A minimum cumulative 2.0 is required for admission, including the successful completion of the motor and physical fitness test.
