Alcohol Use Education and Prevention

As a faculty member, you are perceived as knowledgeable, caring, and trustworthy. All of these traits make you a potential resource in times of trouble for many students. The stress of academic, social, family, work, and financial concerns are often overlapping and may result in a student turning to faculty members. Oftentimes faculty are in good positions to identify students who are troubled. It is critical that faculty show both interest and concern when helping students solve problems that are interfering with academic survival and success, especially if it involves alcohol and substance abuse.
At times a student will present a problem or request information that is out of your range of knowledge and additional professional expertise is needed to resolve the issue. You can find resources to assist you by following the links above.
