Adam Khavari The Foodbank of North Carolina At Greenville is a non-profit organization that distributes food to various agencies within a ten country area. These smaller agencies then distribute the food to the community in a variety of ways locally. My name is Adam Khavari and I had the opportunity to do a service learning project at the foodbank in my health 1050 class. The foodbank is located on 9th street and is very close to campus so travel isn’t an issue if you ever decide to volunteer at the foodbank.
The foodbank does distribute the food to the agencies in and around Pitt county but volunteering there wont give you face to face contact with the public, so if you’re an introvert or just shy you might like volunteering there. The staff there is extremely friendly and very helpful with whatever questions or concerns you might have while attempting your project there. While I completed my project there I was given a variety of tasks to do, anything from working on a computer to stacking can goods, and sacking potatoes. Working at the foodbank was a very enriching experience for me personally and I thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely consider volunteering there again and I strongly recommend it for anyone searching for a volunteer opportunity.
