ESG has a box to recycle cell phones and printer cartridges. We will get paid for all that we recycle, and this is an easy fundraiser for ESG! The box is located in Dr. Snyder's office (Carol Belk 3201)

Eta Sigma Gamma

 A national professional honor society in health education, Eta Sigma Gamma’s primary purpose is to elevate the standards, ideals, competence, and ethics of professionally trained individuals in the health field. 

The Eta Sigma Gamma insignia reflects the ideals of teaching, service and research. The lamp of learning utilized in installation/initiation ceremonies represents the unifying element of the three ideals.

East Carolina University’s Beta Theta Chapter of ESG was established 30 years ago and is among one of the oldest honoraries on campus. ESG became a part of ECU’s Department of Health Education and Promotion in 1978. Beta Theta membership includes graduate students, upper level undergraduates, faculty and area professionals. Our chapter meets monthly to share ideas and plan various education programs.
To Become a Member:         
To be eligible for initiation into the chapter, collegiate honorary members must:
  • Officially be admitted in the Department of Health Education and Promotion (School Health, Athletic Training, Community Health, MPH).
  • To remain eligible as a member, once elected, students must maintain an overall grade point average of 2.5 and a GPA of 2.7 in all Health Promotion courses.
  • Please fill out the (application for membership) to be considered. 
  • Members considering leadership position, please fill out the (leadership application) to be considered.

Fees and Dues
Initiation Fee: $40.00
Local Dues: $15.00

Benefits to Members:
Each member, upon initiation, receives a certificate of membership and the official pin of the honorary. Honor chords for graduating seniors are optional for a small additional fee.  In addition, membership includes subscriptions to The Health Educator and The Monograph http://www.etasigmagamma.org/monograph.html

Regular meetings are scheduled as per member availability.  You are required to attend two meetings a semester to remain eligible for membership.
