 Joshua Marano
My name is Joshua Marano. For my HLTH 1050-298 service learning project, I volunteered with Habitat for Humanity of Pitt County. This organization is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is a non-profit, economical Christian housing organization that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people from all walks of life to build simple decent housing for qualifying low income families in need. I was able to donate my skills acquired through my personal work experience to help the organization in both the construction aspect and ReSale retail store.
I have volunteered through various organizations in the past, my last with a local volunteer fire department. Through this organization I was able to help the both the citizens of Greenville and myself through service-learning. By volunteering at Habitat for Humanity, I have learned that I was able to help others in a more traditional way.
