Lindsay MartinLindsay Martin

My name is Lindsay Martin.  I am in Barry Elmore’s Health 1050 class, which is an honors course.  To get the honors credit, we had to complete 25 hours of volunteering at a place of our choice.  Pitt County Memorial Hospital was my choice.  I decided to work there because I am very interested in the health field.

After going to orientation and learning more about the hospital, I was sure that it would be the place for me.  I began volunteering by working in various areas of the hospital.  This allowed me to get more oriented with the hospital, because it is quite easy to get lost in!  I was also able to work with people in various departments, learning about the things they do and the places they go.  Through this, I have become a more independent, friendly, and caring person.  I have truly learned that volunteering is a special thing, especially when you help those in need!

Pitt County Memorial Hospital is a wonderful place to volunteer.  They are very flexible with when you can work.  They also hold celebrations for the volunteers, commending all the work they do.  The people in the volunteer office are very nice and willing to help!  There are no questions that I am satisfied with my choice to volunteer at Pitt County Memorial Hospital!
