Lindsey TingleLindsey Tingle
My name is Lindsey Tingle and I am a freshman at East Carolina University.  For my Health 1050 class I participated in a service-learning project.  I picked The Family Violence program to work with.  The Family Violence Program is an organization that helps victims of domestic violence.  The organization provides many services to women and children that have been victims or witnesses to domestic violence.  The director of The Family Violence program is a lady by the name of Sara Munzer.  She was a very helpful person to work with.  She helped me pick an area to work in and also helped me select a project to complete.

Under the advice of Sara I was able to volunteer at one of The Family Violence Program’s thrift stores.  The thrift store is called Co-ed Closet Chaos.  All of the money made by the thrift store goes directly to The Family Violence Program in order to help fund their various programs. Volunteers are always needed at the thrift store to help with the many clothing donations they receive.  For my service-learning project I conducted a clothing drive for the thrift store.  It was very successful and all the donations were greatly appreciated.  The family violence program is a great agency to volunteer for.  They are working hard to combat the issue of domestic violence.
