 Melissa Hardy
Hi. My name is Melissa Hardy and I did my service learning project at Building Hope Community Life Center. Building Hope provides after-school care for children in elementary and middle school. My job was to tutor the children and play around with them once their homework was completed correctly. I originally thought that the kids would be well-behaved angels. Needless to say, I was proven wrong. Some children were nice and friendly while others were rather hostile and cold. I learned more than ever before about how to handle children, such as dealing with them with patience and still being able to goof around and be silly with them. I hope and pray that the children there were able to learn positive things from me as I did from them. My experience at Building Hope Community Life Center is one that I will cherish for the rest of my life.
