Operation Sunshine is an organization that takes in at-risk girls ages 6-13 and places them in an atmosphere where they can learn, mature, grow, and be loved.  They have activities such as arts and crafts, field trips, read-a-thons, career explorations, snack time, guest speakers, and homework assistance.

Working at Operation Sunshine has truly made my first semester at college even more exciting.  Taking time to get away from the stress of work and going to visit these girls was something I looked forward to every week.  The first day I walked in I already had so many little girls holding my hand, giving me hugs, and just wanting to talk and play with me.  As time went by, I really began to fall in love with each of the girls and their uniqueness.  I loved the excitement they would show when I would help them figure out a math problem. I loved playing basketball with them even though many of them were too little to even get the ball close to the basket.  I loved how they always wanted to dance with me and teach me a new move they had just learned.  Basically, I loved everything about them and everything we would do together.  Working at Operation Sunshine has been a blast and I plan on continuing my service learning there for as long as I am able.
