Tobacco Free Colleges

What is Tobacco Free Colleges (TFC)?

  • A program funded by North Carolina Health and Wellness Trust Fund (HWTF) to promote tobacco cessation and prevention efforts among college students.

What are the goals of TFC?

  • Prevent initiation of tobacco use among young adults ages 18-24 
  • Eliminate exposure to secondhand smoke on college campuses 
  • Promote tobacco use cessation among young adults 
  • Eliminate tobacco-related health disparities in this age group

    *Our efforts are to create and promote a healthy campus environment and assist students that want to quit smoking in their cessation efforts through the promotion of Quitline. 

  What are some ways that I can participate in TFC program?

  • Friendly informer program
  • Media promotions (i.e. advertisements- radio, newspaper, poster designs, etc.)
  • Healthy Pirates
