Building on recent successes, it is envisioned that the Human Performance Laboratory will continue to increase its local and national standing for excellence in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research, education, and service in exercise science. If provided sufficient university support, it is anticipated that the HPL will contribute substantially to the growth of ECU in terms of new faculty, externally funded research, and recruitment of undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students. It is the goal of the HPL, together with the other entities at ECU, to become the premier site in the United States for education and training in exercise science research and physical activity/wellness outreach/service programs targeted to young, adult, and elderly populations.
