A Real Integrated Sports Experience (ARISE) program is designed to provide students, faculty/staff, alumni, and community members with and without disabilities the opportunity for involvement in a variety of unique sports, fitness, and recreational activities as a means to enhance their physical, intellectual, social, and emotional well-being. The program features modified sport and recreational activities and instruction in an integrated setting for anyone wishing to gain experience in adapted recreational activities. Although these programs are designed specifically for individuals with disabilities, everyone is encouraged and welcome to attend. A more detailed listing of available activities follows. The mission of (STAR) is to enhance quality of life for individuals with disabilities through socialization, education and adapted recreation. The group began in 1986 and today has more than 50 members. The group meets at 5:30 pm on the fourth Thursday of each month in the classroom at the Regional Rehabilitation Center in Greenville, NC.
