Dr. Joseph P. Flood received the Health & Human Performance Service Award for 2006-2007 for his efforts in working with eastern North Carolina communities, as well as his service projects in Costa Rica.

Drs. Funderburk and McGhee win national awards
At the recently concluded 2006 Annual Conference of the American Therapeutic Recreation Association, two professors from East Carolina University’s Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies received prestigious awards.
Dr. Janet A. Funderburk was awarded a Certificate of Recognition in appreciation of meritorious service to the profession related to her efforts in coordinating the Higher Education Institute for Recreational Therapy educators.
Additionally, Dr. Susan McGhee was awarded a 2006 Presidential Award in appreciation for her support of the profession of Recreational Therapy.
Both Dr. Funderburk and Dr. McGhee teach in the Recreational Therapy degree programs in the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies at East Carolina University.
