ECU Horizon’s program is open to research opportunities for senior research projects, graduate theses, and other research projects.
CURRENT AND COMPLETED RESEARCH
clipartTreatment Effectiveness

Research is gathered to determine the effectiveness of Horizons Interventions. Behavior Rating Index for Children (completed by child, parent, caseworker, and teacher) is used to monitor child’s progress.

During each program, clients are measured on group cooperation, emotional control, character (respect), and interpersonal skills. This information is used to determine client progress and program effectiveness.

Aroma Therapy

Participants took part in an aroma therapy study to determine the effectiveness of aroma on decreasing inappropriate behavior.

In conjunction with ECU’s Biofeedback Lab, the effectiveness of stress and relaxation techniques are measured using EEG (electroencephalograph) and GSR (Galvanic Skin Response)
