The ECU Horizons Day Treatment Program is a State of North Carolina licensed and accredited day treatment program for at-risk youth currently enrolled in the Pitt County Mental Health. The Horizons Program offers a comprehensive, holistic set of therapeutic programs which address the needs of the at-risk child.  Programs respond to specific needs including, but not limited to: esteem and concept building, interpersonal skills development, group cooperation skills, anger management, motor development and discretionary skills enhancement, social skills development, and community outings for “in vivo” experiences.

With its conception in 2002, Horizons provides ECU students with an unparalleled experience. Horizons gives upper level undergraduate students and graduate students the opportunity to work and gain real world experience. Internship and research opportunities are available.

Mission: The mission of the East Carolina University's Horizons Day Treatment Program is to offer a diverse range of innovative programs to respond to the treatment needs of children and youth with emotional and behavioral disorders. Horizons utilizes interventions fostering skills to promote self-efficacy, effective community integration, positive social interactions, and a healthy lifestyle.
