If you want to declare a major in Recreation and Park Management, meet with your current academic advisor and tell her or him your plans. As you might imagine, you will need to meet all requirements to declare the major. Academic Advisors for RTPM may be found in the College of Health and Human Performance Academic Advising Center. Ms. Lauren Cummings works with those students who have not yet declared the major, while Ms. Sandie Griffin, works with students who are declared majors.

To apply to be a major in Recreation and Park Management complete the online application form. Once your application is received, you will receive an email asking you to set up a face-to-face interview with one or more RT faculty members. Shortly after that interview, you will be contacted by email regarding the status of your application for admission into the B.S. degree in Recreational Therapy.

Once admitted, you will be assigned to the "Declared Academic Advisor for RPM", Ms. Sandie Griffin, who will serve as your Academic Advisor for the remainder of your studies. In addition, you will be assigned to a Recreational Therapy Faculty Mentor. Your Faculty Mentor will provide guidance and assistance with practicum, internship, and career possibilities, as well as networking, professionalism, and general information about pre-professional preparation.

Be sure to inform both your Advisor and your Mentor if you are thinking about eventually going on for a graduate degree, especially in areas such as Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy. They will help you select the most appropriate science and elective courses to meet the basic requirements of those professions.
