Information Technology - Macintosh
I had to have my Macintosh password reset and now Keychain Access keeps asking me for my password. How do I get it to stop?

For OS X.4: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301364
What are "Recovered Items" I see in my Trash?

They can be safely deleted. They are usually just files that are periodically cleaned out of your system. From Apple:

If I'm on a Mac, I don't need Antivirus, right?

Wrong. You can be a carrier and send a virus to someone with a PC. Also, with the introduction of OS X, your machine is now vulnerable. For example, check out what Symantec has to say about these viruses SH.Renepo.B
or MacOS.MW2004.Trojan.
Can I use my Pirate password for my account password?

Yes, just remember it doesn't change automatically. You'll have to do it manually in System Preferences. Use this PDF to help: http://www.ecu.edu/cs-itcs/mac/upload/OSXPassword.pdf.
I don't know anything about OS X? What do I do?

Many training options can be found at http://www.ecu.edu/cs-itcs/training.cfm. You can also contact your Instructional Technology Consultant for help in learning OS X. See http://www.ecu.edu/cs-acad/facultyorientation/ITCs.cfm to find the ITCS consultant that represents your area. Another option is to call the Help Desk at 328-9866 ask if Mac support can schedule an appointment to work with you.

How do I know if I'm using OS 9 or OS X?

The visual clue for which OS you are in will be the Apple in the top left corner of your screen: blue for OS X, multi-colored for OS 9.
Can my computer burn DVDs?

That depends if you have a SuperDrive or a Combo drive. A combo drive can play and burn CDs but only play DVDs. A SuperDrive can play and burn both CDs and DVDs.
