Accessing Voice Mail:
After the Telecommunications department has programmed your voice mailbox, you access your voice mailbox at anytime by dialing 6870 on campus or 328-6870 off campus. You will be prompted for your mailbox. Enter your 4 digit phone extension and press #. You will be prompted for your password. Enter your password and press #.
Logging Off Voice Mail:
After accessing your voice mail, you will need to log off the voice mail system. Press 83 and the system will say "Goodbye."
Programming Your Password:
The default password for your voice mailbox is 1234 until you create a new one. To set a new password, access your voice mailbox. Enter 84 to access the password change option and follow the system instructions. Passwords can be 4-16 numeric characters in length. If you forget your password, call us at 328-9866 or log an Online Service Request. Your password will be reset to default.
Recording Your Greeting:
You may choose to use the voice mail system greeting or record your own personal greeting. To record your own personal greeting, access your mailbox. Enter 8* for mailbox commands. Press 2 for greetings. Press 1 for external greeting (for callers outside the university) and 2 for the internal greeting (for callers inside the university). Press 5 to record. Wait for the tone before you start to speak. Press # to end the recording. Press 2 to review the greeting. Press 76 to delete the greeting. Press 4 to exit.
Recording a Personal Verification:
Access your voice mailbox and enter 89. Press 5 to record. Wait for the tone, then record your name and, if you wish, your title or extension number. Press # to end the recording. Press 4 to exit. Your personal verification will be included in your greetings, outgoing messages and in main dialing and remote notification responses.
Retrieving and Deleting Messages:
When you receive a message waiting notification (message lamp or broken dial tone), access your voice mailbox. The system will tell you how many messages you have and will automatically begin to play them. After listening to a message, press 2 to replay, press 3 to fastforward, press # to pause and 2 to continue, press 6 for next message, press 4 for previous message, press 76 to delete the message, press 76 to restore the message (within the current session only).
Forwarding Voice Mail Messages:
You can forward a message to another person or persons. After listening to the message, press 73 to forward, enter the mailbox number or list of numbers you wish to send to and press # after each number. Press # when complete. Press 5 to begin recording and # to end. Press 79 to send the message.
Express Messaging:
Express messaging is a fast method of leaving a voice mail message for someone without logging into your own mailbox, composing and sending a message. Dial the express messaging number of 6872 (on-campus) or 328-6872 (off-campus). Enter the mailbox number of the person you want to leave a message for, then press #. The system prompts you to leave a message after the tone.
WARNING:
The University Voice Mail System has an auto purge program in effect. Messages over 2 weeks old will automatically be erased from the system's memory. If not retrieved before then, your messages will be lost. Please listen to and delete your messages ofen.
