File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Software

File transfer protocol software allows a user to copy computer files, such as Web pages or data documents, from one computer to another.

My Web academic websites have a built-in FTP tool.

Personal websites require a separate FTP program be installed on your computer to transfer files up to the web folder.

There are many FTP choices available.  Two easy-to-use choices:

FileZilla

A free FTP software that runs on many platforms, including Windows, Linux, BSD, Mac OSX and more.

This one-page FileZilla tutorial shows how to upload files to the personal server.

Fetch

Fetch is a full-featured FTP client for Mac systems. A simple interface supports both FTP, SFTP and more.

Fetch is a free download to students/employees of a public or accredited private school, college, university or academy. To apply for a free license and to download the software, visit http://fetchsoftworks.com/fetch/free
