File transfer protocol software allows a user to copy computer files, such as Web pages or data documents, from one computer to another.
If you are now using My Web to manage your academic ECU Web sites, an FTP feature is built in to that interface. However, if you maintain a personal Web site through ECU, an FTP program is still required to upload pages to the Web server.
There are many FTP choices available. Two easy-to-use choices:
A free FTP software that runs on many platforms, including Windows, Linux, BSD, Mac OSX and more.
Fetch is a full-featured FTP client for Mac systems. A simple interface supports both FTP, SFTP and more.
Fetch is a free download to students/employees of a public or accredited private school, college, university or academy. To apply for a free license and to download the software, visit http://fetchsoftworks.com/fetch/free
Secure Shell (Windows Client)
SSH is a network protocol allowing secure data exchange between two networked devices. This protocol is often used with Linux systems. One open-source (free) SSH client is PuTTY.
