Microsoft Communicator

Microsoft Communicator (Windows) and Messenger (Mac) are available to ECU users to securely communicate with other ECU contacts using instant message (IM), audio/video conference and data sharing.

Users have the option to download the Communicator software to their ECU-owned computer or log in using the Communicator Web portal. See the links to the right.

Coming February 2012

Communicator 2007 will upgrade to Microsoft Lync in February 2012. You'll still have all the great features of Communicator with the addition of web conferencing, desktop sharing and more!

How Can Communicator Help You?

  • Initiate a one-to-one or group text-based conversation
  • Schedule video conferences using a Web camera
  • Place computer-to-computer calls (headset required)
  • View presence information—whether a person is online, offline, busy—from an e-mail message received in Outlook
  • Share documents through Communicator “data sharing” sessions

Customize Communicator

  • Add your location—in office, at home, etc.
  • Set different access levels for different groups in contacts
  • Multi-select contacts for single-click conferencing
  • Add Subject and Importance to a Communicator call
  • Reply to e-mail with IM or voice call
