Antivirus Software for Campus
Symantec Endpoint Protection, with its added protection against not only viruses, but also malware, spyware and Trojan horses, is the official antivirus software for ECU users.
For institutional computers, the software is part of ECU's computer image. Live updates and scans are automatically configured for Real-Time Protection.
Students, faculty and staff are also entitled to one download of Symantec Endpoint for a home computer. Log in to the ECU Download Center, click Software Request Forms in the toolbar and complete the online form.
Open Your Computer's Symantec Endpoint Protection
Double-click the Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) icon in the notification are of your computer screen (the lower right corner near the clock).

Determine Your Computer's Protection Status
The software opens to the Status page, where you will see a green bar with a check mark indicating the SEP software is working properly with no problems detected.

If the SEP software detects a problem, this bar is red with information regarding the problem/s. Click the Fix All button to repair the problem/s. If this does not resolve the problem/s, contact the IT Help Desk at 252.328.9866/1.800.340.7081 for assistance.

To scan for threats, view the quarantine area or the scan logs, click the links on the left.
Note that a Full Scan checks the entire computer for possible risks, while an Active Scan only checks processes in use and locations where infected files are commonly located.
