Staff Computer Support

ITCS supports department desktop and laptop computers in the following ways:

Computer Installation

Your ECU-purchased computer is imaged with the university-supported operating system, if required, which includes Microsoft Office, Symantec antivirus software, etc. Data files from your old system are transferred to the new system. Service available at no charge during regular business hours.

    Hardware Repair

If your ECU-owned computer is exhibiting hardware problems, please submit the repair form. A technician will run diagnostic tests to pinpoint the problem and either repair the system at that time or order replacement parts. New parts usually arrive within three business days. Repair service available at no charge during regular business hours. Parts, if ordered, are usually covered under the 3-year system warranty.

      Clinic Repair

If your ECU-owned clinic computer is exhibiting hardware problems, please submit the repair form. A technician will respond within two hours to pinpoint the problem and either repair the system at that time or order replacement parts. New parts usually arrive within three business days. Repair service available at no charge during regular business hours. Parts, if ordered, are usually covered under the 3-year system warranty.

        Software Installation or Repair

The Desktop Support team also installs department-purchased software or repairs a software program such as the operating system. Software repairs can include re-installation, reimaging a system’s operating system or repair, if possible.

If installing new software purchased by your department, please have the license number, installation disk (if applicable) and the purchase order available for the desktop support technician.

          Security Issues

If your ECU-purchased computer is showing signs of malware, submit the form to request a consult. A support technician assesses and remediates problems which may include removal of malware and installation of malware detection software.
