Network Services - Cost Breakdown

If your department requires a firewall, network installation or update, computer ports, etc., submit a Project Request form from the IT Help Desk service request system. A network technician will call to discuss your needs or provide a quote.

Prices below are for estimates only; certain labor is outsourced and charges for some hardware items, such as cabling, are subject to change due to fluctuating markets.

Charges over $5,000 require department approval.

Network Analysis

  • Firewall
    • Level 1 - $625.00
    • Level 2 - $1,150.00
  • Small Office Router (800 Series) - $750.00

    Network Engineering

    Current networking standards provide for two network connections per office area at no charge. Departments are charged for requirements beyond this standard.

    • Data Port Activation (cabling may be required at an extra charge) - $200.00
    • Patch Cables 7 ft. - $6.00
    • Patch Cables 10 ft. - $7.00
    • Patch Cables 15 ft. - $8.00
    • Patch Cables 20 ft. - $9.00
    • Patch Cables 25 ft. - $10.00
    • Wireless Access Point - $626.00

      Network Infrastructure Cabling Charges

      Labor for wiring is outsourced, and the cost is dependent on several factors including the type of building infrastructure, the distance from equipment to port and installation difficulty (based on the age and condition of the building).

      Current networking standards provide for two network connections per office area at no charge. Departments are charged for requirements beyond this standard.

      Costs can include the following three items:

      1. Data jack, cable, patch panel port and wire management - $75.00
      2. Wiring installation (time & supplies) - $72 per hour (may vary; this service is outsourced)
      3. Conduit charge (if necessary) - Outsourced to ECU Facilities Services; charges vary by service

      Cable pricing is subject to change due to fluctuating copper prices.
