August 1, 2011
ECU e-mail accounts are moving from Exchange Server 2007 to Exchange Server 2010 beginning Tuesday, August 2, 2011.
Visit the ITCS Service Catalog Exchange 2010 entry for a list of new and exciting e-mail features. Also visit the general configuration page for instructions to connect most devices to e-mail.

However, some users may still experience issues with a few smartphone models. If so, try these two steps to resolve the problem:
- Confirm that the incoming mail server setting is piratemail.ecu.edu
- Contact your service carrier for the most updated operating system for your smartphone as well as any software downloads to make your phone fully compatible with Exchange Server 2010.

ITCS will post additional information regarding specific fixes for specific phones as that information is available.

ITCS recently upgraded ECU’s faculty and staff e-mail system. Following the upgrade, some users have experienced problems accessing ECU e-mail from their mobile devices.
The issue is related to the compatibility of the smartphone OS with Microsoft’s exchange services. Microsoft has worked with the OS manufacturers (such as Apple for the iPhones, Google for the Androids, etc.) to insure compatibility.
The OS manufacturers, in turn, share this info with carriers, such as Verizon and US Cellular. The carriers typically modify the smartphone OS software to work with their systems.
Some of the carriers have updated their versions of the Smartphone OS and pushed it out to customers, some have not. In some cases the updates have been made available, but the update is not compatible with certain versions of smartphones, so these phones may not interact correctly with our e-mail services.
Users who are experiencing issues should contact their smartphone provider for assistance with getting updated OS software. This may or may not be available depending on the phone's model and the carrier.
ITCS will post additional information regarding specific fixes for specific phones as that information is available.
The appropriate incoming mail server setting for accessing ECU faculty/staff e-mail is piratemail.ecu.edu.
