OS X - 8 character password limit fix

 
Fix for 8-char password limit in OS X
Benefits of installing the Microsoft User Authentication (UAM) module
• Allows passwords up to 64 characters (No 8-character
limits.).
• Allows case sensitive passwords.
• Strong 128 bit NTLMv2 encryption.
Note: Minimum install for this module is for a PowerPC G3 running OS X.1 or X.2. You will need your Macintosh admin password to do this installation.
OS X UAM installer disk image and folder.
Step 1
  • Download the stuffed file from OneStop
    • Log in
    • Go to the Personal section>Software Downloads>Desktop
    • Download the OS X version of "Microsoft UAM Module (Mac)"
  • A file called "OSXMSUAM.sit" will download and should unstuff a folder.

Step 2
Launch the installer.
  • Open the folder called "MSUAM_for_X".
  • Double-click on the "Install MSUAM for X.pkg"

Step 3
Walk through the installation steps.
  • At the "Welcome to the Microsoft User Authentication Installer" window, click "Continue".
  • At the "Important Information" window, click "Continue".
  • At the "Select a Destination" window, click on your drive (usually called Macintosh HD or Mac HD. Some users may have more than one partition or drive).
  • At the "Easy Install on Macintosh HD" window, click "Continue".
  • At this point, you will be prompted for your Macintosh admin password.
Select your drive to install the software.
Step 4
Complete the install.
  • At the "Install Software" window, click "Close".
Close the installer window.
Step 5
The next time you access a server that has ClearText turned off (like ECUWSG1), you will see the following login screen.
