OS X - Certificate Installation

In preparation of the Exchange 2007 upgrade in February, Entourage users that are not already on Exchange 2007 will need to install the following updates. They are operating system specific so please select your correct system.

OS X.4 (Tiger) Steps

Step 1: Install certificate 1. It will launch the "Keychain Access" program. When it does, change the keychain "login" to "X509Anchors" and then click the "OK" button. (See KeyChain Access below.)

Step 2: Install certificate 2. It will launch the "Keychain Access" program. When it does, change the keychain "login" to "X509Anchors" and then click the "OK" button. (See KeyChain Access below.)

Note: If an error appears during the installation of either certificate, please see the screen shot below. If they are the same, then you are okay and can cancel the install. One of the certificates has already been installed.

Step 3: Verify they are located in the X509 Anchor keychain. (See Visual Verification steps below.)

Step 4: Then, do the following:

  1. Go to Tools>Accounts.

OS X.3 (Panther)

You will have to install these certificates manually. Instructions are here.

EXTRA:  Additional certificates for login errors. Please install these only if advised to do so by the Help Desk or ITCS.

Step 1: Download these files:

gd_intermediate.crt               gd-class2-root.crt

Step 2: Open the zipped files if they don't do so automatically

Step 3: Double-click on the exposed file, gd_intermediate.crt and gd-class2-root.crt

Step 4: When Keychain Access launches, make sure the keychain says "System" and hit the "OK" button.

Step 5: Quit Keychain Access and restart Entourage. The error message should be gone.

Keychain Access

CRITICAL: During the install process, the Keychain Access program will launch. When it does, change the keychain from login to x509 Anchors or the correct keychain won't be updated and the install will fail.

Select the X509Anchor keychain.

Visual Verification:

To see if the new certificates have been installed, open KeyChain Access from Applications>Utilities, click on the keychain X509Anchors and look for two GoDaddy certificates:

GoDaddy certificates

Error message:

Some users are experiencing an error when installing the second certificate. This is caused because the certificate had already been installed in the correct keychain. The Keychain Access application won't reinstall it if it already exists.

If it happens to you, please just ignore it and visually verify the two certificates have been installed from the image above.
