Local USB printer will not print

  • Solution 1:  Turn the printer off then on again.
  • Solution 2:  Reboot the computer.
  • Solution 3:  Disconnect the USB cable and attach it to a different USB port on the computer.
  • Solution 4:  Go into Apple menu > System Preferences > Print & Fax and delete the printer from the list. Then reboot the computer. Go back into the Print & Fax preferences and see if the printer automatically appears in the list.

Office 2004 won't run or prompts for you to install Rosetta

Office 2004 requires Rosetta to run because it is PPC software. Rosetta is not installed by default. Its a custom option and must be manually selected during the original Snow Leopard upgrade.
  • Solution 1:  Put in a ticket to the Help Desk to have Rosetta installed.
  • Solution 2:  If this is a personal machine, just install Rosetta from your original Snow Leopard disk. It will be in the customization options.

 


 

Images or video appear darker than normal

Snow Leopard uses a different default gamma setting (2.2) than previous systems which used a 1.8 gamma value.

 

FireFox not rendering fonts correctly

During the upgrade, duplicate web fonts are installed. The older FireFox versions cannot display them correctly. 
  • Solution 1:  Upgrade to 3.5.2 or higher.
  • Solution 2:  Resolve all duplicate fonts in Font Book
  • Solution 3:  Empty font caches.
  • Solution 4:  Disable and re-enable web fonts.
