You will need two files (RemoveSymantecMacFiles and Norton_AntiVirus_11_Mac_Corp_EN) to do this installation. Both can be found at http://download.ecu.edu/ (General Files > Virus and Security Applications > Symantec AntiVirus 11 for Snow Leopard).
FIRST - Removal of older Symantec files
Step 1: Open the RemoveSymantecMacFiles folder. Step 2: Double-click on the RemoveSymantecMacFiles.command file inside.
Step 3: Click on Open.
Step 4: A Terminal window will open. Enter the password you use to get into your Mac. You will not see it as it types. Press Return on your keyboard when done. Step 5: Type in "1" and hit Return.
Step 6: A list of files that are being removed will scroll down the terminal window. This is normal. When it ends, type in "y" for yes to restart and hit Return on your keyboard.
Your computer will restart. After you log back in, you can now install Symantec 11 for Snow Leopard.
Second - Install Symantec
Step 1: Doubleclick on the Symantec installer image
Step 2: Doubleclick on Norton AntiVirus Installer inside the folder.
