Go to your drive and open the Applications folder.
Double-click and open the Symantec Norton Solutions folder.
Double-click on the Symantec Norton Antivirus application.
Step 2 - Set up Preferences
In the Symantec Norton Antivirus window, make sure your drive is selected in the window and not any of the servers that may be mounted on your desktop.
Click on the "Preferences" icon in the left window.
Step 3
"Scan compressed files" = checked
"Only infected files" = selected
"Do not list permissions errors when scanning" = checked
"Show only when infections are found" = selected
"Report Format:" = TextEdit
Repair Tab Settings
"Automatically repair infected files" = selected
"Quarantine files that cannot be repaired" = checked
Reminder Tab Settings
"Receive virus definitions alert" = Checked
Auto-Protect Tab Settings
Click on the "Launch Auto-Protect Preferences" button
Auto-Protect Tab Settings
Note: You may have to click the lock at the bottom of the window to unlock the preferences. You will need to be an administrator of that computer to do so.
"Auto-Protect" = On
"Automatic Repair" = On
"Quarantine files that cannot be repaired" = Checked
"Scan Disks When Mounted" = On
"Show Progress During Scans" = (Optional)
"Scan Compressed Files" = On
Close the System Preferences window when completed.
Quit the System Preferences application.
Step 3: Symantec NAV Setup Complete
Click on the "Save" button in the Symantec NAV Preferences window.
