STEP 1: Prepare your disk by running Disk Utility.
STEP 2: Make sure your have run all your Mac OS updates.
STEP 3: Have your VMware Fusion Serial Number at hand.
FIRST - Removal of VMWare Fusion 2
This is not necessary. VMWare Fusion 3 will overwrite the existing application.
Second - Install VMware Fusion 3
Step 1: Insert the CD and double-click on Install VMware Fusion icon.
Step 2: Click on Continue.
Step 3: Click on Continue.
Step 4: Click on Continue.
Step 5: Click on Agree.
Step 6: Enter the serial number and click on Continue.
Step 7: Select your hard drive. Click on Continue.
Step 8: Click on Customize. You will need to change settings in this install.
Step 9: Turn off McAfee Virus Scan Plus for Windows. ECU has a site license for Symantec and if the machine is put on the domain, policy will automatically install it. Turning off McAfee, which is free for only one year, will prevent you from having two antivirus programs running at once.
You can also uncheck any VMware Tools that you know you will not be using.
Step 10: Enter your Mac administrator account name and password. Click OK.
