The system uses multiple textcensor scripts developed by NetIQ to search the message for spam content. It also uses lists from organizations that have identified senders as spammers and blocks the messages from ECU's mail system.
How long does my spam stay in MailMarshal?
MailMarshal keeps the messages for 10 days. After 10 days the messages are automatically deleted.
What do I do if someone's message doesn't make it to my inbox?
Sign into the website and check your folders for the message. You can release the message via the web console. If it was caught by the filters, you can then add their address to you white list.
I released my message via the web console/digest message and it didn't make it to my inbox. Where is it?
The MailMarshal system is designed so it will release your message to the next rule for processing. If you message is flagged as spam, it might get caught by the next rule. If that is the case, you can release the message from another folder in your web console. Just drop the menu down and look for the message.
