1. General Information

This section is provided as a guide to all schools, departments and agencies of East Carolina University for acquisition, change or deletion of Infrastructure Services. The campus network infrastructure is the responsibility of Infrastructure Services, who is responsible to the Associate VC/CIO of Information Technology & Computing Services
.

1.1.1. Purpose of Organization


The Infrastructure Services provides consultation, design and implementation for all voice, data and infrastructure wiring for departments and agencies within the university system. Infrastructure Services are as follows:
Voice — consultations, voice services design and quotes, desktop and conference phones, call center solutions, public access telephone lines and services and blue light phones and service.
Data — consultations, network design and quotes, wireless requirements, remote office solution to include DSL and remote internet requirements and data port activation.
Infrastructure Wiring — consultations, wiring design and quotes, cable drop installation for voice and/or data ports, wiring requirements to support renovation projects, fiber requests and all outside plant locales undergoing construction.

Any university department requiring assistance in the preparation, pricing, and engineering of Infrastructure Services prior to submission of Help Desk Tickets should contact Infrastructure Services. 1.1.3. Procedure Description


Requests for voice services system design, cost estimates, or related information must be made by submitting a request to Infrastructure Services through the University Help Desk. The Infrastructure Services Request must include the following information:
  • Name of department
  • FOAP to be billed
  • Billing department contact person
  • Person to be contacted
  • Location for service by building name and room number
  • Detailed description of work requested:

    • Furnish a brief description of services requesting
    • Date services are needed (allow three weeks)
    • A list of special instructions, if any
