ECU Student Piratemail Getting Bigger and Better!

During the week of May 11 – 15, ECU student Piratemail will be upgraded and mailbox space is being doubled to 100 megabytes!

If you log into Piratemail through Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari, you'll notice a few changes in appearance in your Inbox, and some great improvements, but you'll still read and send e-mail the same way you have in the past. The Light version of Piratemail is still available for Mac users logging into e-mail through Firefox or Safari.

If you experience problems accessing Piratemail from a smartphone, PDA or Mac (using Entourage), please READ BELOW because you may need to do a few things, like install security certificates and/or update your mail settings.

Windows Mobile device, iPhone or iPod Touch, or through Entourage:

If you'll be accessing e-mail on a Windows Mobile device, iPhone or iPod Touch, or through Entourage, be sure you have the necessary security (SSL) certificates installed.

Windows Mobile Certificates:   Install certificate 1  ,  Install certificate 2

>> From your mobile device, open this Web page in a Web browser.

>> Click the two certificates above to install them on your device.

>> Notification of successful installation will appear. If you get a prompt, you must say yes to let the installation process execute.

iPhone or iPod Touch Certificates:   Install certificate

>> From your mobile device, open this Web page in a Web browser.

>> Click the certificate above to install it on your device.

>> Be sure you have the latest version of the iPhone Software:
for iPhone      ,     for iPod Touch

>> Your mail settings should be:

Email: yourPirateID@ecu.edu (replace 'yourPirateID' with your unique PirateID)
Server: piratemail.ecu.edu
Domain: intra
Username: yourPirateID (use your unique PirateID)
Password: ********** (your unique password/passphrase)

Description: yourPirateID@ecu.edu (replace 'yourPirateID' with your unique PirateID)
Use SSL: On

Mac Entourage Certificates: ww.ecu.edu/cs-itcs/mac/OS-X-Certificate-Installation.cfm.

If you are a Mac Entourage user, you will need to update your e-mail account settings after your mailbox has been upgraded.

Go to Tools > Accounts > double click Exchange account > in Account Settings tab, change the Exchange Server at the bottom to "piratemail.ecu.edu/exchange/yourPirateID@ecu.edu" (no quotes; replace 'yourPirateID' with your unique PirateID).

If you experience technical problems, please submit a help request through the Online IT Help Desk at http://help.ecu.edu.
