The Circulation Department of Joyner Library (Academic Library Services) is seeking a customer-focused, team-oriented person for the Recalls/Holds/Missing Items Manager position. This position is responsible for processing requests and initiate billing, when applicable, for holds and recalls, as well as processing newly acquired and rush catalog items. This position will process missing item requests and maintain the search list of items reported missing, search missing items, provide maintenance and process hold requests for iPads and other circulating equipment, provide public services at the Circulation desk, in addition to other specified duties.
The essential knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for this position include: knowledge of library techniques, systems, policies, and procedures; demonstrated ability with software applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience in the use of an integrated library system; ability to analyze and use standard library methods and principles; ability to develop, organize, coordinate, and conduct the processing of materials in a systematic way and to maintain accurate records of operations. This position must have the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; and able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with library users and library personnel.
Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities include general knowledge of academic libraries, circulation services and the ability to use library working tools and procedures in a public services setting. This person in this position must have the ability to exercise good judgment, ability to remain calm during stressful situations, and maintain an open, warm, friendly, and personable manner. This person must have attention to detail and the capacity to focus on multiple tasks at once.
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
The normal work schedule is Tuesday- Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 1:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. This work schedule may be adjusted periodically to accommodate the scheduling needs of the department.
