1. Do I need my OneCard to Checkout?
YES! ECU faculty, staff, and students must have their One
Card to checkout.
NC residents must present a photo id along with their library
card to checkout materials.
2. Where can I get change?
At the Circulation desk, 1st floor.
3. Where can I buy a copy card?
If you do not have an ECU One Card, you can buy a copy card in
the Reference area and also at CopyServ which is located in the
basement.
4. Where can I find Videos/DVDs?
Videos are located in the basement near compact shelving. |
DVDs are located on the 1st floor to the left of the Circulation
Desk and in front of the Interlibrary Loan Office.
5. What are your hours over the holidays and breaks?
Check the hours posted by the entrance, webpage,
or call 328-4285.
6. Where are lost items returned?
Library Security desk, 1st floor
7. How do I go about getting a graduate carrel? Faculty Carrel?
Circulation desk, 1st floor.
8. Where are your bookdrops located?
Patrons can drive up to the bookdrop that's located in the loop
outside of the library.
We have a depository in the wall to the left of the entrance of
Joyner Library directly across from the waterwall. There is also a
bookdrop near the A. J. Fletcher Music building.
9. Where are your Magazines and Journals located?
Current periodicals are located beside the Digital Library Center,
1st floor.
The microfilm is located in the basement in
Government Documents/Microforms. Bound issues are
shelved in the stacks.
We also have electronic journals.
10. What does the term "Available Soon" mean when I am looking up an item in the computer?
It means that item is currently going through the cataloging
process and it is not quite ready to go on the shelf. However,
you can place a rush request at the Circulation desk and the
item can be ready in 24-48 hours.
11. What are your late charges for "overdue" items?
Charges for overdue items are .25 cents a day per book and
$1.00 for overdue videos/dvds. Once an item is returned, late
charges can be paid at the Circulation desk.
12. How many items can I check out at once? How long can I keep these items out?
Valid ECU students, staff, and faculty can check out as many
items as they want. NC residentscan only check out 5 items
for a period of two weeks. Undergraduate students and staff
loan periods are 28 days for general circulating items, 14 days
for curriculum items, and 2 days for curriculum basal textbooks.
Graduate students have a semester long due date for general
circulating items, 14 days for curriculum materials, and 7 days
for curriculum basal textbooks. Faculty have year long loan
periods for general circulating items, 7 days for curriculum
basals and overnight for journals.
13. How do I check out items that professors have on reserve?
You must provide your instructor's name, course id, and the
title of the material. You must have a valid One Card to
checkout. Reserve items can be checked out and taken to
other areas within the library. Reserve materials do not leave
the library unless otherwise instructed by the professor. There
are some reserve books that can be checked out for a day or
for a week.
14. How do I go about getting a study room for a group meeting?
Study rooms are available on a first come, first serve basis.
However, the Reference desk can reserve a study room for 2
hours. Stop by the Reference desk, call them at 328-6677, or
e-mail them.
15. How do I go about renewing items?
You can bring the books to the Circulation desk, renew the
books by phone, or renew online.
Items cannot by renewed by phone if the borrower has any
overdue items or fines, or if the items have been requested
by another patron.
