Which Interlibrary Loan service do I use: Joyner Library's or Laupus Library's?
Since Joyner Library and Laupus Library each has a separate interlibrary loan service, there is sometimes confusion about which should be used. Laupus Library serves as the primary library for the Division of Health Sciences: the Brody School of Medicine, the College of Allied Health Sciences, the College of Nursing, the School of Dental Medicine, the East Carolina Heart Institute, and the East Carolina Diabetes and Obesity Institute. If you are a student or an employee of the Division of Health Sciences, you should place your interlibrary loan requests with Laupus' Document Delivery/Interlibrary Loan office. Joyner Library serves as the primary library for all other ECU students, faculty, and staff and offers its own Interlibrary Loan service.

Can I visit and use both libraries?

Yes, all members of the ECU community, from all divisions and programs, may visit and use materials in both Joyner Library and Laupus Library, including databases, reference and journal collections, and circulating collections. If you have not registered with the circulation departments of both libraries before, you will need to do so before checking materials out from that library. Registration is quick and free for current ECU students, faculty, and staff -- just remember to take your PirateID with you.

Can I request materials from both libraries via Interlibrary Loan?

Yes, you can request materials from the other library to be delivered to your primary library from the other one. To make a request for materials, please visit the appropriate library's site: Joyner or Laupus.
