Joyner Pull&Hold Cancellations

Sometimes requests made via Joyner Pull&Hold must be canceled. Frequently cited cancellation reasons are listed below with an an explanation of what it means and, when applicable, what you can do to try to get the material even though your request had to be canceled.

  • At bindery: The issue you requested has been sent to a company to be bound into book form. You may request this item via ILL Borrowing by using ILLiad; ask the ILL Staff if you need assistance. Please note, though, ILL Borrowing can take at least a week to obtain a copy from another library.
  • Avail – Electronically: The item you have requested is available full-text online at the website or in the database listed in the e-mail you received. If you need help accessing the article online, please contact the Reference Desk.
  • Avail – NetLibrary: The item you have requested is available full-text online in NetLibrary. Please contact the Reference Desk for help creating a NetLibrary account and for assistance in using this service.
  • Checked out: You may contact the Circulation Desk to have a recall and hold placed on the item.
  • Issue not yet received: The issue requested has not been received by the library yet. It should be arriving shortly. If it does not arrive within the next week, please contact the Circulation Desk.
  • Lack volume/issue: The library does not own the volume or issue requested, though it does own other volumes/issues of the title. Most often the reason is that the library began to subscribe to the title after your desired issue, or canceled its subscription before your issue; sometimes, issues that are stolen or lost by patrons cannot be replaced and thus gaps in the collection are left.
  • Non-circulating: This item cannot be pulled by Pull&Hold. You may use access the item in the library. Ask at the Circulation Desk if you need assistance.
  • Not Able to Supply by Your Deadline: You entered a deadline that we could not meet. If you can use this item within another few days, please let us know.
  • Not as cited: We could not find the work with the information you gave us. Please check your sources and the catalog again and resubmit.
  • Not on shelf/Missing: The Pull&Hold staff could not find this material in the library although the catalog shows that it is checked-in. You may request this item via ILL Borrowing by using ILLiad; ask the ILL Staff if you need assistance. Please note, though, ILL Borrowing often takes at least a week to borrow a copy from another library.
  • On order: Though this item is listed in the catalog as being owned by Joyner Library, it has not actually arrived to the library yet. It will be arriving sometime in the coming weeks or months, depending on the publisher and supplier. You may place a rush cataloging request for this item or request it via ILL Borrowing.
  • On reserve: This item cannot be pulled by Pull&Hold. You may only access the item in the library. Ask at the Circulation Desk if you need assistance.
  • Other: Please contact the Pull&Hold staff at the Circulation Desk for an explanation.
  • Special Collections: Materials in this collection cannot be pulled by Pull&Hold. You will need to access this material in the Special Collections Department in Joyner Library. Ask at the Circulation Desk if you need directions.
  • This is a duplicate request: Another request for this item by you exists in the system and is being searched. There is no need to follow-up on this request, for the other one is being processed.
  • Title not owned: Joyner Library does not own this title. You may request it via ILL Borrowing by using ILLiad.
