As the institutional memory of East Carolina University, the University Archives seeks to acquire, preserve, and make accessible the academic, historic, and cultural material produced by the students, faculty, staff, and alumni of East Carolina. Our repository contains material from the founding of the school in 1907 and continue through the present day. Examples of material include records of Presidents and Chancellors, the Board of Trustees, student life, faculty governance, and intercollegiate athletics. As a public institution, many of the records produced are subject to North Carolina Public Records laws.
Monetary donations that directly support the University Archives may be made to either the Donald R. Lennon University Archives Endowment or the Joyner Library Priority Fund. These private funds enable us to undertake otherwise impossible projects. Examples of the type of efforts these initiatives support include:

The Friends of Joyner Library was established to foster the role of Joyner Library as a university and global resource. The Friends sponsor programs focused on raising awareness of the library's resources and support fundraising activities to develop and preserve collection development and facility upgrades.
