Enabling Java

Enabling Cookies

If the above tells you that you have Java, JavaScript and cookies enabled, then you do not need to change your browser's settings.   If not, here are some basic instructions for enabling Java and cookies for internet explorer and Netscape.   Check your browser's Help section for more information.

ENABLING JAVA

For Internet Explorer version 6 or higher:

  • Choose Tools from the top menu bar.

  • Select Internet Options.

  • Click the Advanced tab.

  • Scroll until you see Java (Sun).   Check the box next to it.

  • Close the browser, and then re-open it.

For Internet Explorer versions 4 and 5, try the following:

  • Choose View from the top menu bar.

  • Select Internet Options.

  • Click the Security tab.

  • Click the Custom button , and then click the Settings button.

  • Scroll down to Scripting/Active Scripting.

  • Click Enable.

  • Click OK to save the changes.

  • Click OK again to save and return to Internet Explorer.

For Netscape 4.0 or greater:

  • Choose Edit from the top menu bar.

  • Select Preferences.

  • In the category list, click Advanced.

  • Click box for Enable JavaScript , if not already checked.

  • Click OK to save the changes.

  • Close and re-open the browser.


For versions of Netscape lower than 4.0:

  • Choose Options from the top menu bar.

  • Select Network Preferences.

  • Click on the Languages tab.

  • Check Enable JavaScript.

  • Click OK to save the changes.

ENABLING COOKIES

For Internet Explorer

  • In Internet Explorer, click Internet Options on the Tools menu.

  • On the Privacy tab, move the settings slider to Low or Accept All Cookies .

  • Click OK .

For Netscape 6.x or greater

  • Go to the Edit Menu, and select Preferences.

  • In the left pane, under "Privacy & Security", select Cookies.

  • On the right side of the Preferences window, choose the action you would like from the list provided by Netscape.

  • Click OK until you return to the Netscape window.

For Netscape 4.x

  • Go to the Edit Menu, and select Preferences.

  • In the left pane, beneath "Category:? select Advanced.

  • On the right side of the Preferences window, find the "Cookies" section.

  • From here, you can select a button to disable cookies, accept all cookies or to only accept cookies from the originating server.

  • Click OK until you return to the Netscape window.

For Netscape 3.x

  • To enable or disable warnings before accepting cookies, go to the Options menu and select Network Preferences.

  • Click the Protocols tab.

  • In the "Show an Alert Before" section, you can check the Accepting a Cookie box. This will give you the option of accepting or refusing cookies when you encounter them.

  • Click OK until you return to the Netscape window
